(Northbound Yonge Line, Friday night)
Tech employee at a Bank: You know I still haven't seen the movie Sense and Sensibility.
Fellow (non-tech) Bank Employee: I have the DVD, you can borrow it if you want.
Tech employee: No its okay, thanks. I can probably find a
bit torrent of it somewhere..... I mean I just don't want to waste time
ripping a DVD for a movie I don't end up liking.

Dear Hollywood Movie-Mogul:
Hope you are well. Your business model is broken.
Take care!

Siobhan I have two qestions for you; 1. What does 'a bit torrent of it' mean - I am probably showing my complete ignorance here! 2. Why do we have to do these funny comment verification games??? - Neyir

1. Bittorrent is a protocol that was developed specifically for downloading large files. You probably recall Napster and its ability to download songs. Bit Torrent was a successor to Napster and Bit Torrent used a different downloading method that made it efficient to download a large file like a Movie. It made it change to say 8 hours to download to 1 hour to download. 2. comment verificiation 'games' are called captchas and blogging sites use them now to prevent spammers from using automated scripts to load a bunch of spam comments onto your blog. The verification is very difficult for a computer to decipher but easy for a human to decipher. Yes, in some ways we are still superior :) Re: Overheard on the TTC

Well, it's good to know our DSL business will still have customers.
