On the way home from a MBA get together, Elaine and I were talking books in the taxi. Elaine is reading a book called Elegance and I think its this one, though she couldn't recall the author. She said it was an enjoyable read, I will probably borrow it from her or get it from the TPL.
Last time I was with Elaine (and she had just been on holiday), she recommended the interesting and funny book The Devil Wears Prada. This book is much more than typical of the 'Bridget Jones genre'. It is a frightenly accurate portrayal of what it is like to work and succeed in the fashion industry.
I know this because Elaine and I were discussing the book with someone who worked at a major global cosmetics firm. She hated working at the cosmetic company and said she cried when she read that book because it was her life in print.
Fortunately, she told Elaine and I she quit her job for a better one. Unfortunately, she did not get to execute her leaving as the main character does in The Devil Wears Prada.
